We advise our clients on labor-related and employment issues in the routine course of their businesses as well as in every privatization undertaken by the firm. In the latter case, such counseling usually relates to the procedures to be observed when collective layoffs are contemplated after the purchase of a particular company. The observance of legal procedures in regard to employment matters is very important, as noncompliance may result in lawsuits filed by unions and/or individual workers, and may lead to payment of substantial penalties by the employer. We also advise our clients regarding the procedures to be followed for collective layoffs upon restructuring of their activities, as well as for the individual termination of labor contracts. We also assist our clients in matters before the Romanian courts, if their employees sue them, and we actively participate on behalf of our clients in the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements with the Unions.
